Marble is a natural, metamorphic stone. It typically has a high polished surface. As with most stones, natural color variations are part of it's beauty. It is a relatively soft stone and should not be used in applications where it will be in continuous contact with staining agents, such as in a Toronto kitchen. Polished marble cannot withstand any exposure to acids such as citric acid from lemon juice. If exposed, it will etch and loose it's shine.
Marble is most appropriate for formal, lightly used Toronto floors but it is always in great demand for Toronto bathrooms and fireplaces. Not normally for exterior use in Toronto. Honed marble is an increasingly popular material for floors due to it's better wear properties, warmer feel and less slick surface compared to polished. 12" and 18" are common sizes for honed marble.
Marble tiles are a great way to add both value and beauty to your Toronto home. There are several benefits to using marble tile over other natural stone flooring options like slate or travertine. Probably the best benefit is that you can add a large amount of value to your Toronto home with a comparatively small investment. Marble is seen as an exotic and luxurious choice for flooring material so even though you might only spend a few hundred dollars in materials, you could ask thousands more for your Toronto home when you go to sell.
Another benefit of Toronto marble is that it is easy to clean. No matter what your preferred method of cleaning, you can keep your marble looking beautiful. It is possible to vacuum or sweep with a broom. You can also use mops or rags to wipe the floor clean. It is possible to stain marble so you want to make sure that you put a layer of sealant on the marble tile to keep stains from setting in. If you drop something heavy or chip and tile in some other way, it is relatively easy to repair it.
Note: This is a small sampling of tiles, there are many more styles available in the store.
